Diamètre de la colonne
Diagramme de faisabilité.

Enter your column diameter and choose the module size. Instantly see whether wrapping is feasible, how many modules fit around each ring, total module count, display area, and rough cost. Built from DOIT VISION’s 764mm and 815mm minimum cylinder diameter engineering limits — the same numbers our engineers quote every day.

Enter the column’s outer diameter and select the modules you plan to use. Results are calculated from DOIT VISION’s diamètre minimal du cylindre : 764 mm et 815 mm engineering limits — the same thresholds our engineers apply to every project.

01 — Avant de commencer

Trois chiffres dont vous avez besoin

Diamètre de la colonne. Measure it. Wrap a flexible tape measure around the column, get the circumference, and divide by 3.1416 (π). No flexible tape measure? Use string and measure the string. An estimate off by 20mm can mean the difference between feasible and not feasible at the 764mm threshold.

Hauteur de l'enveloppe. How tall should the LED section be? Measure the vertical distance you want to cover. The calculator divides this by the module height (120mm or 160mm) to determine the number of vertical rows.

Taille du module. 240×120mm wraps tighter columns (down to 764mm). 320×160mm gives fewer, larger modules per ring — faster installation, but a higher minimum diameter of 815mm.

02 — Guide de référence rapide

Diamètres minimaux des cylindres

Taille du module Diamètre minimal du cylindre Rayon minimum Modules/anneau typiques
240 × 120mm 764mm 382mm 8 à 14 selon le diamètre
320 × 160mm 815mm 408mm 6 à 10 selon le diamètre

Important: These limits are determined by module dimensions, not pixel pitch. A P1.25 module and a P4 module in the same 240×120mm form factor share the same 764mm minimum diameter — the PCB substrate is the same size regardless of how tightly the LEDs are spaced. Choose pixel pitch based on viewing distance, not mechanical constraints.

Signification de chaque nombre

Modules par anneau. Calculated as (column circumference × 0.78) ÷ module width, rounded to the nearest whole number. The 78% factor accounts for the trim strip — roughly 22% of the circumference is covered by a filler panel at the column rear, facing a wall where it’s never seen. No one covers 100% of a cylinder circumference with LEDs.

Modules totaux. Modules per ring × vertical rows (wrap height ÷ module height, rounded up). Each row adds exactly one module height.

Zone d'affichage. Module width × height × total modules ÷ 1,000,000. This is LED surface only — not the full column surface area.

Estimation du module (USD). Rough module hardware cost at $800–$1,500/m² (modules only — no frame, controller, shipping, or installation). Actual price depends on pixel pitch, GOB option, quantity, and destination. Send the column details for a line-item quotation.

nuance du facteur 78 % : In practice the application factor ranges from 75% to 80% depending on column accessibility and the trim solution. The calculator uses 78% as a midpoint. Actual module count may vary by ±1 module per ring — confirm the final count with the engineer reviewing your floor plan.

Questions fréquemment posées

Questions de fin de colonne

764mm for 240×120mm modules and 815mm for 320×160mm modules. These are hard mechanical limits determined by the flexible PCB substrate and silicone chassis dimensions — not by pixel pitch. A column under 764mm cannot be wrapped with standard DOIT VISION flexible modules. Contact Kris for custom module options for smaller diameters.

Module count per ring = (column circumference × 0.78) ÷ module width, rounded. For a 1000mm diameter column with 240mm-wide modules: circumference is 3,142mm, × 0.78 = 2,451mm, ÷ 240 = 10.2 → 10 modules per ring. Enter your diameter in the calculator above for the exact count.

A trim strip covers the remaining 15–20% where module edges meet at the rear of the column — positioned facing a wall and never visible. The 78% application factor is the industry standard. Attempting 100% coverage with fixed-width modules would require custom edge trimming, introducing damage risk and voiding warranty.

Flexible modules conform to curves, not sharp 90° corners. For a square pillar, build a curved metal frame around it that smooths the corners into a rounded profile. DOIT VISION provides CAD drawings for square-to-round conversions. Alternatively, use four rigid LED panels meeting at the corners.

It’s feasible with 240×120mm modules, but the bend stress is at the rated maximum. Recommendations: (1) use GOB modules to reduce handling damage risk during installation; (2) fabricate the steel frame to a slightly larger outer diameter (770–774mm) if the architectural column allows — a 6–10mm increase makes no visual difference but significantly reduces long-term PCB stress.

No — a common misconception. Pixel pitch (P1.2 through P4) affects resolution and cost, but the mechanical bend limit is set by the physical module dimensions. A P1.25 module and a P4 module in the same 240×120mm form factor share the same 764mm minimum diameter. Choose pixel pitch based on viewing distance requirements, not mechanical constraints.

Before any order ships, our engineer reviews your column photo, diameter measurement, and intended wrap height. If standard modules don’t fit, we propose alternatives: custom frame geometry to increase the effective diameter, a hybrid rigid-flexible solution, or custom module sizes. This review is free and happens within 24 hours of your enquiry — before any purchase commitment.

Kris Liang Cofondateur et ingénieur principal, DOIT VISION

19 years in LED display engineering. Built this column diameter chart from the same module mechanical limits verified in DOIT VISION’s factory aging tests — 72 hours in the bent state, every module, every order. The 764mm and 815mm thresholds come from our own engineering data, not a datasheet reprint. If your column doesn’t fit at first glance, send me the dimensions and I’ll figure out what does.
